Threat to Rosendale Playing Fields - Latest
KEEP PRIMARY SCHOOLS FOOTBALL AT ROSENDALE PLAYING FIELDS
Lambeth Council are handing Rosendale Playing Fields to the new local secondary school Elmgreen. As a result the playing field may be out of action all next season whilst it is re-seeded and after that it is not certain primary schools will still have use of the site. This could mean the end of primary school football in Lambeth.
Let the council know how important Rosendale Playing Fields are to primary schools. Contact the councillors below or your local ward councillors. If you don't know your local ward councillors use www.councillor.gov.uk to find and contact them.

2008 Seven a Side Tournament
The 12th annual 7 a side tournament will be held on Sunday 8 June at the South Bank University Sports Ground, Turney Road, Dulwich, SE21. Funding to cover some but not all of the costs of staging the tournament has been confirmed and all schools in the league have been contacted. Due to space limitations only the first 20 schools to complete and return the entry form with the entry fee will be able to participate. Competition details will be sent to schools taking part nearer the date.
As usual we will be looking for volunteers to help run the event on the day. Anyone interested should contact their school team organiser or contact Gary direct on gary.cornforth@tiscali.co.uk or on 07905 910575.
FIXTURES - up to and including 24 May
League games have now been arranged up to and including 24 May including midweek dates. From 26 April we will be reliant upon having access to at least one pitch at the Southwark Sports Ground as South Bank will no longer be available for football. There are no games on 12 and only one scheduled 19 April as this is the Easter holiday for most schools. See the fixtures page for details. Please remember that fixtures can be altered at short notice although the fixtures page is updated as neccessary and will normally be a reliable guide to forthcoming matches.
MAGAZINE CUP
The first round has now been completed and the draw for the second round posted on the "Magazine Cup" page. Second round games are scheduled to be played week commencing 5 May. Individual games and dates to be confirmed.
League Tables
See the "League Tables 2007/08" page for updated tables up to and including 5 April '08 for all divisions.
The League does not use goal difference so where teams are level on points they are arranged alphabetically.
COMPLAINTS/COMMENTS
As promised at the AGM we have introduced a formal complaints procedure and the form for making any complaint or comment is on the complaint/comment page.
New Schools
This season sees four school join the league for the first time. Welcome to Fenstanton, St Leonard's and Bonneville of Lambeth and Camelot of Southwark. This means we will have three divisions of eleven teams.
2006/07 AGM
The AGM for the 2006/07 season was held on Wednesday 12 September 2007 at the Bread and Roses function room in Clapham Manor Street, Clapham, SW4. Minutes are posted on the AGM page.

South Bank University Sports Ground
The league is returning to the South Bank University Sports Ground after our absence last season. The ground which is in in Turney Road just around the corner from Rosendale Road has excellent facilities and as previously we will have our own junior pitches and goals. There is also a modern pavilion with changing rooms and catering facilities.
This means for season 2007/08 we will have three venues, our original home in Rosendale Road, the Southwark Sports ground on the South Circular which hopefully will not get flooded this season and the above mentioned South Bank University ground.
Magazine Cup winners
The 2006/07 Magazine Cup went to Corpus Christi who won a tough game 2-0 against a strong Loughborough team. The first goal was scored by Rhys Amoah a minute before half time and the second midway through the 2nd half from Luke Fenlon sealed victory.
See the "Magazine Cup" page for scores and match details of the 2006/07 competition.
2006/07 League Champions
Francesca Cabrini made sure of winning the Red Division coming back from 2-0 down to draw with Sudbourne. This also meant that Macaulay finished a point above Sudbourne in 2nd place.
St Bernadette's won the Blue Division some weeks before their last fixture with Loughborough clinching runners up with a hard fought win over Corpus Christi who could have pipped them for 2nd spot.
In the Green Division Elm Wood finished as champions following their draw with Peckham Park. Richard Atkins completed a fine season beating St Joseph's 2-0 in their final game to secure runners up spot.
Congratulations to Matt Asah coach of St Bernadette's, Michael Brady of Francesca Cabrini, Peter Poulastides of Elm Wood, Benjy Ackim of Richard Atkins, Steve Gale of Loughborough and Darren Annon of Macaulay.
XI Annual seven a side tournament
The eleventh LPSFL seven a side tournament was held on Sunday 10 June 2007 at the South Bank University Sports Ground. 20 teams competed for the Walcot Cup, the Newcomen Collett Shield and the Chris Autos Plate.
In hot, sunny conditions the overall winners were Glenbrook School of Clapham Park beating St Bernadette's also of Clapham Park 2-1 in the Walcot Cup final in which tired players from both sides gave a determined display of skill and committment.
The second competition for the Newcomen Collett Shield was won by Allen Edwards of Stockwell in their first season in the league after a number of years absence. In the final they overpowered a spirited Victory School of Southwark seeking to retain the Shield which they won the previous year. The final score was 3-0.
The Chris Autos Plate was won emphatically by Oliver Goldsmith of Peckham beating a gallant Walnut Tree Walk School from Vauxhall 6-0 in their final.
See separate web page for further details.

Rosendale Playing Fields
When playing at Rosendale it is essential that cars are not parked across the neighbouring houses drives. Please make sure that everybody coming to games at Rosendale by car is aware of this. For obvious reasons it is very important that we maintain the goodwill of local residents.
In addition the pavilion and playing fields must be maintained in a good condition. Players (nor anyone else) should not climb or swing on the goalposts and litter must not be left on the field. Please make sure that your players use the pavilion sensibly and take football boots off before going back in after games. The wash basins must not be used to clean boots or any other muddy clothing or equipment and obviously the WC and urinals should be left in a clean condition.
